Zemer Hazayit Synagogue, Efrat

The Zemer HaZayit Congregation brings a modern and revitalizing spirit to its commitment to halachic observance through three basic principles:

  • Women’s maximal participation in the spiritual and ceremonial activities in accordance with halacha.
  • The inclusion and education of children towards prayer and community activities.
  • Joyful prayer through singing.

A new building is rising in the Gush Etzion city of Efrat in honor of Rabbi Haim Asa, z”l, originally from Burgas, Bulgaria, and a survivor/victim of the Nazis, who publicized the rescue of Bulgaria’s 48,000 Jewish citizens during the Shoah. He cherished the Jewish community, Am Yisrael, and Eretz Yisrael.  Zemer HaZayit was Rabbi Asa’s home away from his American home, and the new synagogue building dedicated in Israel will exemplify the values that he cherished.
